Day 5 post surgery report...
I had a shower!! THAT was nice. I am camping out for the moment in my 91 year old grandmother's house. Her bathroom is set up perfectly for post surgery recovery, such as hand held shower nozzle, walk in shower, a shower chair....nice. That went well.
I must dangle my arm into my clothes to put them on. More fun. Having zipper or button down tops are essential. I went to Target the eve before my surgery buy few of these types of clothes once I realized I owned nothing with buttons or zippers (that I would want to sleep in anyway). I feel good about buying clothing I will be able to dress myself using a dangling arm.
I think I'm ready!
Getting out of the horrible green hospital gown and slip on my new 'hot pink' button down Pj's - after that nasty hospital gown was nice!! The pj's look like formal wear! woo-whoo!!!
I started using my netbook today. It is small, light weight and small enough to hold in bed with one arm. It functions like a real computer, unlike the stupid over-rated Ipad (which I also have been struggling to use). Anyway -- computer use with one arm could be a whole blog entry in it's own.
Anyway...life is pretty good...
Slow going, yet at the right pace.
I am using my Donjoy shoulder icing machine (what a godsend). I bought this at the hospital for $150. The ice machine is basically an electric ice box (cooler) with a motor that pumps the cold ice water through tubes into a water tight pad which butterfly's around the entire shoulder area. It stays dry. The best part is you can ice the surgery area with this pad (machine) every hour without ice melting all over your bedding or clothes. Donjoy ice Machine... a 'must have' after shoulder surgery.
Ice without the mess!
